Looking to get one specifically for fishing & whilst surfing on ebay I came across jackets between 40- 90 dollars for sale. All of these are from the far east. Has anyone tried these & what is the general opinion? Thanks

Cheap Gore Tex is a contradiction in terms if ever I've heard one

I think you'll find for that price it's definately nothing that even vaguely resembles Gore Tex

I ask as all the branded stuff (Simms, Berghaus, Northface etc) comes from the far east so whats to stop these guys from placing their own brand on an existing design?

It's not so much the 'GORE-TEX' material but the construction of the garment,ie,how it is bonded to other materials that can and does cause problems.
As you say most garments are made in the far east but it is the quality of material used and also the construction of it that really matters,but you never know they may be the biz,you won't know until you try them but then you have to shell out the dosh first

i purchased a loop goretex wading jacket on ebay secondhand cost me £155 so jackets between 40 and 90 dollars sounds a bit dodgy to me but good luck you never know the bloke jackets are good value for the money
