Default Waders: Greys GRXi?

My Vision waders never survived the winter, even though I have not used them that much. I've tried repairing them but there must be 4 seperate leaks, with a couple on awkward seams.

I need to invest in a new pair of breathable chesties, and after looking at the options with a budget of around £150 (don't need boots), I thought that the Greys GRXi's look favourable, but am interested to hear if anyone has bought these and has any experience of there quality and performance.

...or would anyone recommend the Airflo Streamtec's or anything similar?

Thanks for your help

The GRXi seem to be a good wader but, as they are new on the market this year, we dont know yet how resilient they will be.

The original GRX wader proved to be a very reliable breathable wader so if the GRXi is an improvement on this then it will be good

GRX are quite cheap at the moment

My GRX are well into their third year - very comfy and no leaks so if you can find a pair - wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Thanks Guys,

I can manage without the 'i'! Those GRX at £80 seem like the perfect choice. They will do for me.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben
Have a look at Cabelas web site. They make a pair called Premium dry plus for $130 and they are the dogs b***s. I got four years out of my first pair and am on the second year of my second pair, and believe me my waders get some stick. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair and for $130 they are great value.

Ben,

I've got the GRX stockingfoot waders which have survived a lot of rough stream fishing and performed well. I also bought a spare pair of Ian Woods (Who I now Know to be Grommit) at very good discounted price.

The GRX boots however are not in my opinion that hard wearing and I've had to re stick the soles. I've switched to snowbee xs pro but won't know till end of season how good they are.

Default GTi or carb?

I got the GRX waders from Grommit a while back, have used them 1/2 dozen times and they have been brilliant. Even hooked my knees a couple of times with a lure - then a Salmon fly (whilst failing dismally to execute a good D loop ) I thought they'd be a goner but - no leaks!

Also got the Platinum boot for about £72 - probably could have got the Dynatracks or something nearer £50 but they have also been ok - good grip from the Aquatex/studded soles in all conditions.

Unless Greys have changed the fabric + seaming technology they use to make the waders - the rest is marketing hype.

(Many of the people with money to burn today <and people in mkting departments> grew up in the 1970's when your GT became a GTi when you got fuel injection instead of carburettors.
For the record I stuck with my Mk1 Mexico with twin 40 Webers, full bore, no nonsense - oops, rambling now.)

I'm thinking about getting a pair of these (from Grommit, bought from him before and was very satisfied with the service ), I'm curious to hear though from anyone who has these if the real size is about the same as what Greys mentions in their sizing chart or if these fit slightly different? In other words can I just take on my typical wading gear and measure my chest size and pick the one size up from whatever I measure?
