Default Great Service!

I feel I must bring to the attention of the forum what an absolute gentleman Hugh O'Reilly is.

I ordered 5 spools of "Stroft" from him yesterday and this morning they arrived. However, there was a mistake and 4 spools of the same diameter had been sent.

I rang Hugh and told him about the mistake and he insisted, and I mean INSISTED, that as it had been his mistake, I should keep the 4 and he would send out the additional 2 spools at his expense today, free of charge!

Fantastic service, thanks Hugh..........

Why don't all fly fishing shops react in the same way?

gb

Because Hughie doesn't run them!

Because they would probably go bust. Hughie has a strange way of doing business and it seems to work, but it defies any business logic.

Hughie runs, without doubt, the best shop in London. Where else could you go to get verbally abused, sent out for coffee, fleeced of all you hard earned cash and then still feel like you should buy the guy a drink at the end of the day?

Nowhere, and that's why i love the place

Just went in the other day, cost me more for coffee than fishing tackle . Was threatened with being banned from the shop for forgetting the cake my wife made for him ................ Now I know why he's not losing the weight

Joking aside, I travel over 80 miles round trip to see Hugh and sometimes to get nothing more than a few packets of hooks. It is a welcome break from work and I enjoy an excuse to visit his shop.

From good to bad - I just received an order of 4 spools of mono from a certain tackle shop in Burnley and one of them was the wrong type. Emailed the shop to be told "send the unwanted products back with a covering letter upon receipt we will despatch the correct item". No acknowledgement they'd made a mistake and no apology. In turn, equates to no future custom.
