Default Lamson Purist reel

Hi,

Does anybody have some up close an personal experience with this reel, when playing a larger fish ?
It looks clean and simple, but is it also helpful when playing a larger fish of a reel, or is it just a simple line holder?

Hi Wahoo

I have the Purist "P1" this being the smallest size they do. I personaly love it to bits, as for playing fish on IMO if it was a biggy you would need to "palm" the spool to increase the drag if you get my drift. You can alter the drag but it is not fantastic. You just un do an allan screw and push the pin further into the grooves.

Hope this helps!

Cheers Tony

Whats a larger fish?
I have a purist and love it, but its only wild river trout i fish for with it, the biggest on it maybe just over three pounds and it was fantastic.
You can manually set the tension before using it.
It sounds absolutely stunning

This?

Click the image to open in full size.

It looks like my ULA Force Reel but is cheaper and I think, even lighter.

The first one was, taken in about 2 ft of flat water. How the hell the fish did not see 17 stone of me creeping up on it is beyond me. It also took me to the backing and nearly creeped over a wee waterfall
That fish whilst far from the biggest was one of the best memories of season 2008, a lazy sunny afternoon, me on my own, a pack of Marlboro and fish sipping away at olives. Arghhhh bring on the summer.

Hi Buzz

Where did you get yours from if you dont mind me asking? I had mine from Leland in the States when the dollar/pound was good. I love it to bits mine sits under my 6ft superfine. I was going to get another but work is looking very grim at the minute.
