Default Orvis - Rod Madness

I see Orvis have increased the ante on pricing madness.

We have had the Hardy £4k reel ........... we now have the Orvis Penn Creek 7' 4# bamboo rod at a cheeky snip of a price:

£1,350

the VAT cost alone is more than I will pay for a rod.

Well,
We are approaching March, maybe the madness has taken hold early by the "Tackle Manufacturers" or perhaps they think, we're all stupid enough to buy tackle at over inflated prices; although there are the super rich,'I'll have it at any cost brigade'! - They push the prices up; then we have to pay more than the products are worth, or look for a less expensive alternative.

To some business people I know, these figures are pocket money. For the rest of us, the pricing seems outrageous.

There are certainly a lot of people out there that are able to afford these items.

Its not a question of a fool and his money, if you have that sort of money to spend.

If you can afford a Maserati, you probably wouldnt consider buying a Ford Focus.

This price range gives a bit of pride of ownership, whether it is percieved as "good value" or not.

I may be an auld skinflint, but i fish with a Greys platinum XD, and a Sharpes Gordon,
And even if i had pots of money,
I would still stick with these rods.
At £1.350 for a 7ft rod that, works out roughly at £192 a Foot,
No thanks.
