Walker,

I was going to list some Simms Neoprene Waders along with Simms Freestone
boots and a pair of their Goretex Guide Waders in the classifieds in the next
couple of weeks.

Both waders are Simms size ML

The neoprenes are in fact their "Powerdry Version" which are much better
than their standard waders, they are the standard 3mm Neoprene but have
a Power Dry lining on the inside which actually absorbs any sweat / moisture
meaning that when you remove them after fishing your clothing is dry, all
moisture is absorbed into the lining which then just dries off when hung
up inside out and then reverse to dry the outers etc...

Condition wise they are mint, used a couple of times, no damage, leaks
etc... oh, they are stocking foots !

PM me if you are interested.

After a lot trying on waders before I bought some, I would say that the Simm's were really good, as good as any others on the market.

It was that little bit of sewing I couldn't justify buying. The small bit that spells 'Simms' that you have to pay an additional £200 for.

The same could be said of Sage, Orvis, GLoomis, Hardy, Arc'teryx, etc etc. I prefer top end gear as IMO its just simply better all round. I say bollox to the people who say they dont see how a Sage rod is any better than a rod of sub £100! The guys who say this, have they actually tried the more expensive rod, actually fished with it all day???

I find simms gear to be the best on the market at the moment, not just waders but wading boots, jackets and vests also. I would agree however that the cost of premium Sage, Simms kit etc is excessive but im happy to pay it as I like there kit and yes, I am a major tackle tart

I have no problem with Simms quality, but they are not the same price as Orvis or Hardy etc. They are far more expensive ............. just look at their stupidly priced wading stick as an example of taking the punter for a ride.

I can't talk about rod quality because you could rub the name off a series of blanks I'd end up with the one which was easiest to cast not the best, as I would never say I was good at casting. Plus where I do most of my fishing now an overhead cast to test a good rod is a very very rare occurrence.

However I can see and feel the fit of a wader and Simms were not the best fit for me by any means, they were certainly no better made than the EWS and they are simply not worth the over £400 price tag ......... however neither is an expensive watch or handbag 'worth' it for goods value alone.

However a pair of armpit high wellies is not the height of fashion and whilst I agree with the term buy cheap buy twice .... I think I can toss that old chestnut in the bin when I can buy a good pair, which I will scrabble around on river banks in, for nearly a fith of the price and a really really good pair for a third of the price.

You will never get me thinking Simms are good for their price, they simply are not. Although Sportfish had their wading boots at 60% off before christmas and I would have bought them on the spot for that price if I had needed a pair.

Carlos I think we are saying basically the same thing whereas I am happy to pay for top end gear and you are not! Each to their own I guess.

Indeed I agree.

And believe me if Simms are in the sale I head that way.
