Default RIO T11 / T14 = A Airflo 40+ Expert?

What is all the fuss about these - Steve Cullen was praising the Rio T11 up in TFF this month and i hear rob edmunds swears by them - arnt they pretty much like an airlfo 40+ expert DI7 but perhaps a tad faster on the sink rate?

Or am i mistaken? Plse enlighten me

'A tad faster', the T14 sinks faster than the old LC. I bought a few feet of it from Sagefly for some delicate upstream nymphing . I tried it for some deep fishing around the towers in Farmoor - it'll frighten the life out of you to see some of the fish down there. I was stupid enough to try a full 30yrds of t14 rather than have it as a shooting head and it nearly pulled me out of the boat.......... It is now cut down to a shooting head and is better than LC, Airflo or even the deep water express - IMHO the best available for shooting head work and even though I haven't tried it yet for sink tip salmon fishing it looks like it should be more than up to the task.

I think the difference in the "Custom Cut Outbound" is that you finish up with a comp legal (ie one piece) line that casts like a shooting head and sinks like a brick on a rope.

I'm just working on getting a couple of these brought over from the US.

Geordie,
you will find it great as tips on salmon lines .I have it in 1/2/3/5/10/15 ft lengths and can get super depth control with light flys and short leaders !
