Default Hardy Jet 9' #6 fly rod

Hi All,

I have just came across a old Hardy fly rod in the attic of an older relation. It is a Hardy Jet 9' #6 with the marking 0/H. I have found out the 0/H is a code for when it was built but am unable to find out the proper date.
The rod itself is in near immaculate condition, with only a few scratches.
So any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

Is it perhaps D/H? in which case it would be April 1980 I think. The "D" refers to the month of manufacture and the "H" to the year.

Don't discount it as a fishing rod. I still use a 1973 Hardy Jet 8'6" #6. In fact I was using it yesterday. I find them much better than carbon for short distance casting and the weight difference of my Hardy Jet is so small as to be not worth bothering about.

Found out the date of manufacture, it's August 1972. Found it at the following link.

Hope it helps someone else.

H/O would be 1972

Just had a thought - these letters are the same upside down so by inverting them you get O/H never thought of that!

Does anyone know how much this rod will be worth. It is in very good condition.

JET is an acronym for Jon E Tarantino who designed the rod for Hardys. (Regrettably Jon died of gunshot wounds in a gents lavatory some years later!)

Based on simple 2-part pattern of L Rod 130gsm glass prepreg made by Hexcel in Livermore, California.

Probably rolled and made by the legendary Frank Proudfoot under the initial guidance of Jimmy Fischer.

The JET range delayed the entrance of Hardys into carbon fibre rods by about 2 years.

JLH thought that early carbon rods offered little advantage over JET glass rods however they did use carbon in the joint reinforcements as a later modification.

Rod is probably worth about US $60
