Default One of a kind!

I saw your post on surface poppers and here is a link to a 'joke' one I did for a swap only to have it well received by the other side as they like this kind of thing for bull trout and pike fishing across in Canada.

Small 'surface poppers' are also used with fly rods for fresh water bass fishing. This will give you an idea what they look like: http://www.flyfishusa.com/flies/mega-whammy.htm

In the PNW, there is a large coterie of fishermen who use surface sliders (pointy end forward instead of the blunt cup face forward) for searun cutthroat and coho salmon as well as bull trout and whatever bites. In this situation, the surface lure can be highly effective.

I've also used Gurgler-style flies for searun cutts a lot. Will either work in fresh water on trout? It would be interesting to find out...

For info on the popper/slider, go to www.washingtonflyfishing.com and do a search for Miyawaki Beach Popper. You should get more than you want to read.

I bought a pack of them in small sizes from Ebay.

My local rainbows seem utterly unfamiliar with the concept.

That is interesting. I bought a couple recently just as a kind of a novelty but now I think I'll give them a wetting.

Cheers

I have used small ones on a light spinning rod and they'll attract pike and decent sized chub so i don't see any reason why they won't work on a fly rod.
I've recently bought a couple designed for pike and look forward to experimenting with them come the 16th.
