Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has seen these Ice Cleats from Maxim's.

I was walking the dog this morning, like Torvil and Dean and a woman just casually walks past wearing these Ice Cleats.

They slide over your own footwear and are studded. They are supplied with extra studs if you lose any too.

They retail at £10.80 according to ther site, but my local Nisa trader sells them for £4.75. There are three sizes, small for UK 1 - 2, Med UK 3 - 6 and Large UK 8 - 10. Didn't see any bigger sizes ?

A good idea for the elderly too, I think??

Best Regards

Stuart

I wear these on the dam wall at Grafham, when the water level has dropped, leaving a treacherous, wide band of algae.Mine were a fiver on Ebay, and have spikes on the heel and sole. You just need to be careful not to tread on your line

Never thought about treading on line. A very good thought there.

This is the first I've seen on these.

I suppose you could use these for wading too? So long as they fit over your wading boot.

Plus they cost less than a set of studs and the tool to fit them.

Best Regards

Stuart

My mother uses them and says they are great. She's not too sure how long they'll last though.

I'm surprised no-one has come up with these before. Very good idea.

Excellent concept. You just have 1 set of waders and a selection of clip-on gripper souls with various features eg, felt, tungsten hobs, deep tread etc.

Being fishing tackle they will come out at £75 each!

Korkers do wading boots with interchangeable soles.I hike down to the bottom of my beat in deep cleats, then change to felt, a two minute job.
The boots were not expensive, and the various soles cost about £15 a pair. They have lasted a few years now.

Try wader chains for a similar price (£10ish) much longer lasting and robust, if your are feeling flush Kahtoola Micro spikes, Pogu or their cheaper chinese (fleabay) equivalent.

I were issued with ice chains when I was a postman, lethal on anything other than soft ice or snow

I bought these last year and they are strongly built on a vibram sole and grip even on black ice on sloping slabs in the drive
