Default flextec salmon rods

reviews that I have seen have been good and the prices are unbelievable-does anyone own a double hander and if so what's the real truth about performance/finish/general quality-does this product disprove the theory"you get what you pay for".comments appreciated.Richard

A mate bought one from ebay for £30, but I can't remember which model, if it was 13' or 14'.

Anyway, it's a thicker blank/taper than you normally expect to find these days, like you would find on rods from way back, but surprisingly light in the hand. It has quite a 'through' action. I tested it with a 2D and it was brilliant, for that kind of money.

Aye one of our guys has the 15 ft "speycaster" it can batter out a line once we found the right one. As mentioned a thick blank but not a heavy rod.
You mentioned in an earlier post you were going to the River Alness I would take a single handed 10ft 7/8 wt too.

hi peter ross-thanks for your input and guidance.I am indeed venturing on the Alness and looking forward to it-even the scenery alone will make the trip North worthwhile.regardsRichard.

I bought a 14ft 9/10 at the end of last year so I could have a try for some salmon. I havent had a chance to fish with it yet but have had many casts in the garden with it and as said it seems light in the hand and casts a line out fairly easily. I wouldnt know how it compares to a £300 rod but for occasional use it seems ideal for me.
