Hello All,

New member here. I live across the water in Maine, USA. I've become interested in JW Young reels and have picked up a few from the 60's. I've read a lot of great things about the Jubilee reel from more recent years. Am I correct that they don't make that model anymore? Is there anywhere in the UK that still sells it? I'm striking out trying to locate them over here.

Dave , dont think you will find any new stock in the shops .
I was in the tackle trade when the last ones of the production line were being let go at a discount and thats a good decade ago .
Best bet would be to trawl through the second hand sites ,Fawcetts of Lancaster,John Norris -Penrith,Anglers Rendevous and I sure other mebers will come up with other dealers ,though the 3 I have mentioned are generally fair value .

About the same time J W Young's made the Jubilee reel, they produced some almost identical reels for a US company J. Austen Forbes.

Some of these are still being sold, at a very nice price, by Forbes' owner on ebay J. AUSTIN FORBES AVON 3 in. 3, 4, 5 wt. FLY REEL NEW | eBay.

Buy it direct from Rupe, the author, and he'll probably sign it for you Willowpitch & J.W Young & Sons.

Thanks to each of you for your replies and information. The book looks like a must read for someone just beginning to discover vintage reels and the JW Young company, like myself. And the Avon on the auction site may be the closest I'll come.

My primary interest is in the click/pawl reels in the mid sizes: the 5200 and 5300. Thanks for the heads up, though.
