The original BFR Modula and Lamina reels (55, 75 and 95) were indeed made at the BFR factory in Falmouth, Cornwall until Orvis closed the factory a few years ago and shipped all the machinery and tooling to China.

The old Orvis Rocky Mountain reels were made using the same machinery and settings, hence spools were interchangeable.

When production resumed in China, the reels were supposed to be exactly the same, however there must have been a slight error made by a tool setter and batches came off with slight differences, causing spools to slip out of the housing and spinning inside the reel when pulling off or winding on line.

Good old Orvis.

I've just found the ebay item that (I think) you are referring to.

I do think you are slanting your post a bit...

They don't advertise it as you say below:

They advertise it as:

British Fly Reel Modula 95 Titanium+ 2 Spools
This is subtly different to your description and I think is actually quite correct in that BFR is the abbreviation of British Fly Reel.

I agree that the 2002 award bit could be a bit iffy but I don't think they can be accused of trying to pass it off as British made.

You'll find it advertised similarly in several places if you google it.

If the spool is sitting too tight and hard to bed in, you will need to change the rubber 'O' ring to a slimmer version, or grease it.

Sounds to me a complete opposite of the issues I was aware of a while back re spools slipping.

Thanks again Mr. Pirate but I returned the reel and spools for a full refund as promised. I'll go for a couple spare for my Orvis Battenkill L/A spools they're much more expensive but easier to come by. Regards,
