Bigbroony, would be weird to have 7lb only break, maybe a bad batch I've never used fulling mill, i use either Sightfree extreme (red not blue) or Asso, i find both are just as good.

Not sure how you're doing knots, also not sure how others find fluorocarbon, but with any fluorocarbon that i use i never spit on it before pulling the knots tight as human saliva contains traces of oil, and can make fluoro knots slip.

Best regards
Jim

Broony uni knot, i usually make leaders up prior to a trip, i will however for quickness (on the bank) occasionally use a 2 turn water knot.

Best regards
Jim

i have used the 6lb fulling mill and it has performed well when knotting. if you are breaking at the dropper knot then use either a two or three turn water knot. whether you make 2, 3 or 4 turns tends to depend upon the line in question, some lines perform better with two turns, some three, so experiment yourself. when tightening down the water knot, no matter how many turns, always apply equal pressure to all four sections or pieces of line at the same time and tighten down equally and firmly as well as you can.

a common problem with the water knot is when the tag end or waste end, the bit pointing up towards the rod eye, is left too short for good grip for equal setting and tightening. Therefore if its too short you will not get a good grip and it will not tighten properly rendering the knot 40-50% weaker. When tying on a water knot, i always use about 18 inches of line, this allows me to get good grip on all ends to ensure 100% equal setting and tightening.

i acknowledge the points made about water v saliva, but to be honest i have doubts about that theory.
