Its a bad spool mate ,it happened to me last season and it was just a dodgy spool ,G3 is the best i have used by far.

A mate of mine uses it and he says he never ties a 3 turn water knot with it as it kept snapping at the knots he swears by a grinner knot never has any bother with it then fulling mill is ideal for 3 turn water knots ive never had a breakage yet touch wood...

The double grinner/uni knot would be safer -- http://marinews.com/Double-Grinner-Knot-273.php

Chance the maxima ultra green in my opinion its the best and alot cheaper than those over hyped flouro carbons, trust me on this the most successful anglers i know use ultra green all the time for trout, white trout and salmon fishing.

G3 is ****. YGA's Mamba or Fulling Mill are much more reliable.

Fulling mill fluro for me too - never had a problem with it.....although I was massively unimpressed with the Fulling Mill copolymer.

Only had a dropper snap once using G3 and it was when I got a fish on the point at the same time.
