Default another which waders question

i am on a budget and need to get new waders, i am new to fly fishing and will mostly be fishing around wales, i am not sure which waders are the best value for money and for best all round performance for different rivers. i have seen a few on sale here, if any off you guys have one or recomend one i would be thankful.

choosing tackle is harder then fishing, jeeeezzz

Scierra CC3 Waist Waders – Glasgow Angling Centre

Simms Freestone II Stockingfoot Waders – Glasgow Angling Centre

Stillwater Tay Breathable Stockingfoot Waders – Glasgow Angling Centre

Scierra CC3 Breathable Waders – Glasgow Angling Centre

I have both the scierra waist and the Bisons .... the Bisons are a better fit (for me) and in my opinion great value. They can be rolled down to be used as waist if required. Scierra sizing is all to pot.....try on first. Fishingmad the guys who distribute Bisons are good spuds and ill-fitting ones can be returned for re-issue in the correct size. The Scierra are now held together by Aquatex and are used for combat fishing....they have been ok for the price although the neoprane socks would fit coco the clown.
I would not however use breathables for winter/early spring fishing.

Hi there,

I bought a pair of bisons when I started a couple of years ago. I have worn them loads and they are fine. Fit well and are hard wearing.

I wear them mainly round my local ressies but I also took them for a holiday to Uist last year. Wore them every day and they stood up to some serious walking through heather, over rocks and round some of the wild and remote lochs on the island. Wore them all day and were never uncomfortable or any problem at all.

They got pretty discoloured from the peat bogs but washed down fine afterwards. The boots are fine but you need to tie them tight if you are going into mud and bog but also very comfortable.

I got a small leak in one of the front seams but they provide a bit of extra material and some glue with the waders and it fixed the leak easily.

Mine are still going strong so cant say any more really.

Good luck with your search.

Considering the endurance factor on the "must be seen with labels", and if your are primary interest is simply trying to catch trout then best value for money for breathables and neoprenes must be Bison.

edit : Bison wading boots are a bit on the heavy side if your planning doing a fair bit of walking
