Hi Guys
My buddy and i were talking about making a shooting head set up for our 6wt for Swff .........
Did a wee bit or of research and today i test fired my first 6wt shooting head, 16g - 246gn on my Vision GT four Catapult.
I made the head from a Millend DT8 line cut in half and then one half cut back till i reached the weight i wanted.
Then i spliced a loop on each end, the first time ive "spliced" and im very impressed indeed. Next i added the running line to my backing sadly it turned out to be mono cored rather than the braided core id expected.
Spliced loop............i like !
Whilst i hate braided loops i had to use one on the end of the running line and i works well enough.
Head, running line and backing loaded on a spare Vosseler spool ready to rock and roll
Sadly a hard frost last night froze the canal next to my house

but later i found a clear patch near lock gates and test fired the head.
It worked like a dream ! with a single haul the line flew out like a greased ferret
I was slightly worried that the head might be too heavy as most 6wt heads i found whilst researching were around 12g-15g , but the Vision GT four catapult seemed to love it !
As a newbie to this shooting head caper id be interested to hear from others involved such witch craft and alchemy
