Default Views on Loop xact/clw reels

Hi everyone,
I am looking for an inexpensive SW reel for 10-12 line weights, which would handle a good fish. Whats your opinion? Any other good options?
Many thanks for your views.

Good for the salt, as it's mostly plastic.

Thanks for your replies, guys. Yes, its my opinion as well. The reel is light and robust, has good break, sealed, no rust in the salt. I use it in smaller classes and love it. Cheap. I believe everything more expensive is in excess of requirements. Just have some doubts if I would be ok with higher classes. Dont want to spend a fortune.

I'm also considering a CLW 2six for my #6 rod. I've narrowed my reel choice down to the clw; a lamson konic; or a vision nite. The clw is certainly good value, i've the bigger CLW which i use for salt, and the drag is excellent, i'm just not entire sure i want a plastic reel for a lot of my trout fishing. Anyone any views on the other reels?

Cheers

Anyfishilldo,
I have several lamson reels for different weights: radius in 1.5 and 2, velocity, ula force. I like them a lot in fact, all models have the same nice smooth sealed drag, are robust and light. So konic is a good shot imho. However, I got CLW6eight and started to use it now, it suits very well my needs (coast fishing mainly) and I believe it matches lamson at a cheaper price. I wait for my CLW 2six to be delivered and plan to sell some of lamsons to cut costs. Only have some doubts about CLW for 10 -12 classes, as it is a slightly different league. I never used vision, I belive bearings are not sealed and thats not good for the salt. Could be an option for you for trout though, but is it better than loop?

Cheers

thanks for your insight samurai. Good to hear from someone that has experience of both CLW and lamson. I love the aesthetics of the lamson, but can i justify the additional cost when the performance is matched by the CLW. when you receive your 2six, let me know what you think.
cheers

Mert
I got my clw2six yesterday, lined it and even casted a little today.

In short:
overall lamson wins,
cost / effectivness loop wins in small classes

Its comparable to my lamson velocity2 (v2). Size, weight: clw D84mm W48mm, 138gr. v2 D83.8mm W28.9mm, 119.1gr. arbor dia is roughly the same. capacity is similar. From companies: clw WF5 +120yrds, v2 WF6 +100yrds. I put WF6 xact line on clw, it is filled fully, might be slightly smallish for it. However, it is roughly same capacity as v2, I have pirates WF6 line on it and it is filled fully. Both are line5 reels line 6 goes little tight. Both ballance my line6 rods nicely, CLW5eight feels little heavy for it.
Difefrences:
1. Drags are smooth and nice. However, v2 can be ajusted easier. from min to max break the **** makes approx 1.75 turns and when it max it is really tight. On loop it makes 1 turn from min to max and on max it is good, but less strong than v2. Can be abjusted but you need a tool (supplied) to unscrew the knowb. if you tighten, I assume min drag will become stronger than on v2
2. L/R retrieve is a little difficult to change on clw, v2 is simple, but you do it once.
3. Change of spool. v2 is easy, you just pool it away. clw you need to unwind a cover cup which seals bearings, it is quite easy but rool is slightly tight on clw2six for my fingers, no problem on clw5eight though.
Adv. for me: xact spool is identical to clw spool, interchangable.
Aesthetically I like both reels, same matt look, v2 is gray, clw is classic black, which is a right colour for the reel if you ask me.
Conclusions:
1. v2. It is a fantastic piece of engineering and manufacturing, which comes with its price tag.
2. clw. I like it very much. High quality reel manufactured to a very high standard. Much, much superior to other plastic reels I saw (**** is not falling away as on airframe, I hate it, etc.) Bearings are done better than on daemon or vision reels for example where they are open, if you ask me.

I believe clw will perfeclty handle any fishing situation I can come across with my 6 line roods. Up to this class I think all more expensive stuff is in exess of recuirements and it goes to ebay soon (unfortunate influence of crisis). clw is simply a perfect shot for salt.
For more demanding stuff / 10-12 weights lamson suits better. However, I hope to test my plastic loop on good fish this year. Will let you know.

Cheers
