Default stocking foot wader care

got my first pair recently...and I am aware that seams are the likeliest cause of leaks/wear

so I am looking at the neoprene booties and there are taped seams on the outside, so I am wondering if anybody ever puts on something on the outside of the neoprene feet to protect them as they put them in and out of boots..where they are likely to wear or catch most? is it even worth it or are they hardier than I give them credit for?

like a pair of socks or something similar?

or am I just being thick?

Folks do wear socks over the neoprene to protect them .

You also need to wear gravel guards (unless they are inbuilt) to stop fine gravel and sand entering the boot and abrading the neoprene.

Agreed, pair of socks over the neoprene foot, make sure they are cotton though.

Try a pair of these Nick, not only do they keep your feet warm, but they protect the bootie from sand and gravel, and yes I do have gravel guards on as well, but bits still find their way in.

Hi Mr Trout.. I assume if you are wearing these over the top of the stocking foot you have purchased them a few sizes bigger than your feet?

I think its a great idea, i will get some but not sure what size to get.. I have size 7 feet, but wear size 9 wader boots.. I am tempted to go size 9-10 rather than 7-8.. .Would you agree?

I am a size 9 foot, but always get boots at least two sizes up to allow for extra socks etc.
The neoprene socks stretch very easily, so in your case I would get the 9/10 size.
They are smaller than you think, but do stretch.
I and a few friends have been wearing them for about three years now, and we love them.
My feet never get too hot even in summer, but the protection value is immense.

Hi Pirate, was just wondering why cotton? as I was told by someone to use nylon socks as they are harder wearing.
Thanks RR
