Default Which Jacket

I'm looking for suggestion for a new jacket, it has to be totally waterproof, breathable and lightweight, if it could pack into the backpocket of a waistcoat that would be a bonus, It doesn't have to be a fishing jacket as long as it meets the criteria, also has to be no more than £100.

Cheers Craig

I think you will struggle to meet all the criteria...the totally waterproof ones tend on the whole to be too bulky to compress into a small space.
I have a Balena which is great for sticking in a pocket but is not 100% waterproof in prolonged downpours. I use it on Summer evenings on our river but wouldnt take it on a day long trip when poor weather was forecast. Its also high cut and needs to be worn with cheasties. If you find one that fits the bill after field testing give me the heads up, as i have been looking for that very item for ages

I looked at this from America but cant see any reviews.....seems too good to be true apart from the postage!!

Hi,

There were quite a few Simms Paclite jackets on US ebay for sale last time I looked. As always, they“ve slightly changed the model so the older style is going cheap.

Another excellent jacket is the Vision Thinskin, which is also on sale:Thinskin Jacket AKTION, 100,00 €

I“ve tried these on and they look and feel great - they have a good reputation for keeping the rain out too...

Hi 123jc, Check the link below. At £99.99 it's under your price band and is very lightweight but spot on.

Airflo Hydrotec Jacket

Best Regards

The missus got me a Simms G4 Pro for Xmas which fits your criteria except for cost!!
The Paclite sounds a good alternative which is only from £77 on the bay:

I got mine in the sale and it was about £60 but it has now gone back to £120 and the best colour for fishing (mucky green) is no longer available, the brick colour is the only colour nearly good enough. BUT...

This is lightweight, waterproof, breathable and if you watch the video from 1:30 you can see how easy it is to pack away into its own inside pocket, making a nice little pillow, or cushion for your back when in the back pocket of your weskit.

You can zip in a fleece liner for winter wear (makes it damned hot on anything but the coldest days).

I'm very pleased with mine.

Thank's for the suggestions guys. I've been trolling through the web and found a couple of Berghaus jackets in the sales, either a RG1 at £50 or a goretex paclite at £85 - £90, has anyone any info or experience with these jackets ?

I came across these two, would be interested to know if anyone has any experience with Vision and/or Patagonia wet weather clothing.

I would recommend the Snowbee breathable. Sportfish have a sale on. Jacket was £119 reduced to £80. Mine is very lightweight and has a big pocket in the back. Looks good too.
