Default Am looking to buy a fast action Rod: 2 Choices = Dilemma :)

Hi guys, am lookin to invest into a new rod pretty soon, and looking to buy a fast action rod and i have narrowed it down to two possible rods and would like to know what you guys think.

No.1 : Vision Nite Catapult 9ft6 7#

and

No.2 : Greys Platinum XD Comp Special 9ft6 7#

both of these guys are around the same price would just wondering how differ they are in casting?

I have only ever used the platinum x comp rod so cant compare the two but thought the platinum x was a poker - didnt enjoy using it at all. on the other hand i used to use a 10ft 6 inch 7wt ordinary platinum x for my wet fly fishing on the lakes and thought it was fine untill i got a medium action rod a few years ago - i have been using medium action rods with the last few years and enjoy them a lot more - why do you need such a stiff rod

fast action rods generally suit more accomplished casters - they usually require perfect timing to get the most out of them - dont believe all the hype about being able to cast over the horizon by using one of them - medium action rods are usually easier for ordinary anglers - most of my angling friends have gone back to them - for lots of reasons

I think a lot depends on your budget first and foremost, then on what you're going to use the rod for.

A fast actioned rod won't make you a better caster, because you have to have your timing right.

I use a Tachyon 10ft #7 from Steve Parkes and this is a fantastic rod. It is a fast action but the crux of it is the tip recovery. No waves or bouncing on the stop of the cast. That is what you pay your money for and this rod gives me more distance.

Best regards

Stuart

If you opt for the Vision, there are a couple of deals in Classified section (Vision Nite Catapult 9ft 6 #7-8). Lovely rods.

May also want to consider the Sonik SK4. A good all rounder and can be purchased for half price.

A couple of hours qualified instruction would probably be a better investment.

Vision did introduce Mac, a series of very fast action rods. Of course a prime price tag.
