Default Recommendations for a lightweight Reel and Line

Hi, im relatively new to fly fishing so do not know all the information.

I tend to fish on small narrow, shallow rivers, streams. I recieved a light weight orvis 7ft rod for Christmas , 4 weight rod. My current reel is too heavy.

What recommendations do you have for a lightweight reel and a floating line as i like dry flying?

greys streamlite any good?

Ideally I would like to spend a maximum of 160 pounds for line and reel.

Thanks

Orvis BBS II and a Barrio DT #4 would probably suit and leave you with enough change for a fly box and some flies!

Which Orvis rod is it btw? If it's the Superfine you may need to go lighter still. I took my Daneilsson Midge to Sportfish with me yesterday and tried it on the 7' #4 Superfine and it balanced it, but only just.....

SF

Ps It's your money but I wouldn't buy a Streamlite if I were you!

you want a light reel then the SK LITE takes some beating 5/6 weighs 100gms 3/4 @ 90gms no drag, just an exposed spool rim to thumb or palm when playing fish

At the cheaper end of the scale the Greys G1 3/4 reel is 106g and has a click & pawl drag. Spools are only £13.

On the line choice I like to use Scientific Anglers Mastery series floaters.

I missed that, nice reels those, it's successor the Sage Click is nice as well, but a tad pricey.
