Default Reservoir bank rod: Sage Z-Axis 10ft 7wt >> question: would the One 7100 be a better rod?

My fishing situation is: reservoir fishing ( a lot of wind most times) with high banks in the rear, fishing for big trout with streamer lures on floating / Hoover/ intermediate lines and last but not least distant casting is important to reach the fish.

I am using a Sage Z-AXIS 7100 for my kind of fishing.

My question is: would my fishing improve using a Sage One 7100, as distant casting is an important element in my fishing situation?
In other words, is a One in 7 weight a better long distance rod than a Z-AXIS?
Does someone compare this rods?
Is the difference to small to invest in something quiet similar?

Iv'e never heard of the ''one 7100'' but cannot imagine it's going to give you much advantage over the Z Axis.

It's just the code thingy for a 10ft #7 Jim,as Jim just said i doubt it'll give you much advantage over the Z-Axis not nearly £700 worth anyway

The Z-Axis model you have can throw a long line , The One will not give you £629.00 worth of extra distance , Save your cash and keep the Z-Axis , The TCR or TCX might give you a bit more. The TCR 9ft 6 #6 in this ad
might give you an extra blast

There's hardly any difference between rods of the same type and line rating. There hasn't been for more than 20 years at least. Given the number of new models you'd expect that the average distance would have increased by 10 metres in 20 years. There is practically none.
Specialist rods like the TCR may give you an extra few feet under competition conditions but I mean a few feet and stick a team of flies on and any gain disappears.

If you are buying a new rod it should be for the right reasons - for example it may have just the right shade of blue paint or the rings may be strong enough to withstand a truck rolling over them or the handle may have stripes to match your football team.

Yup, two £25 casting lessons will improve your distance a lot more than 10 x that spent on a rod.

I have always been a decent caster but had my first ever lesson a couple of years ago and it made a huge difference to both distance and turnover.

Charlie is spot on there ,self taught back in the 70s with the single hander and could chuck a fairly long line ,got reasonably acurate with river rods and the trick casts from books ,but a day with a group and the much missed berlin taught me casting with far less effort .
trouble is I need refreshers ,found myself using brute force yesterday rather than minimal effort .
Time out for a lesson sometime this spring ,got all the rods I need ,they will do all i want ,,but hey a new one always a possibility

I am a wee bit lost with this need for distance thing as i do mostly boat fishing. The rod that chucks a line to the horizion when needed for me however is the Sage xp 10ft 7#. with a courtland 444.

The post originator is asking if the new sage One will out gun his Z-Axis , The Z he has is just as good as the One for pumping a long line.

Some folks are obsessed with distance for some reason

Thanks folks, I know enough. The One will not put my streamer 10 meters further; Better to stay on the Z-Axis and focus on casting technique. So I saved a bit money here.
