They were sold with an unconditional lifetime warranty weren't they?

Yes Darren but that means that Greys will supply spares as long as the rod is not deemed obsolete. As for when this is is down to Greys. My rod has been obsolete for many years so breaking it in 2011 was of no consequence.I do think as with motor cars spares should be available long after the production of the model has finished.

Surely then, this would make the words Unconditional Lifetime Warranty worthless?

Greys would have asked for the broken section plus the handling fee for a replacement model in the current range and told you to just keep the other sections, so am assuming you got a new rod?

This is what happened to me when I bust a Platinum X and a Platinum XD.

If however Greys haven't played ball, I would keep on at them.

Try phoning Greys-they should still have all the sections for replacement parts for the XD range in stock. You can buy them as the three separate sections and pay postage on top- not cheap but a way of replacing the rod.
