Default Orvis Odyssey IV Owners, I have a Question;

Hi,

I have had an Odyssey IV since 2005 and lately my drag is getting strange. This reel has the cork disc that is pulled against the back plate when you dial up the tension on the spool. When you grab line and pull quickly my drag will let go and nearly let the spool spin freely even though the tension was fairly firm. The pull starts out with good tension but as the 'pull' speeds up the drag releases?

The question is: should I be oiling the cork disc (I have not) have you ever had this problem and if so what did you do to remedy it?

Thanks,

Ard
