Default Sportfish IM6 10' 6/7? Harrison blank ?

In going through my tackle i found the above 3 piece rod. It is a 3 piece and was bought 15 or so years ago after seeing it in a best in test sea trout rod under some price (cheap for sure). I took it out for a cast and it really is a lovely rod. Plenty of sea trout scales on the handle! I read somewhere here about some sportfish rods being built on harrison blanks with this seeming to be a good thing? Just curious to know would this rod be or what is the rep of these rods/blanks. Anyhow it will see action next season after hibernating for a few years. pat

Harrison Blanks are some of the finest around,If it is a harrison, your onto a winner.Steve Parton uses them for his range of rods.

how would you know? I emailed sportfish but never heard from them. All that is written on the rod is Sportfish IM6 10 6/7. was there a time they used these blanks or was it occasional?

I think that the Sportfish rods that are Harrison blanks are marked HR series,,,
Not sure though perhaps someone else can confirm..

You can sontact Steve Harrison through the details on his site Contacts Page.

IM6 indicates the modulus figure, and is not that high, resulting in a rod that is a little slower or fuller action that the latest casting sticks. Also less brittle.

And ideal for sea-trout.

regards,

Doc

I seem to remember Sportfish offering 2 ranges of own-brand rods at one stage. A cheaper (presumably Far-Eastern sourced) range and a more expensive Harrison range....

Hope this helps.
