Default Fast sinkers

I ordered a Di7 line off ebay and got Di5 instead, seller has told me to return it
but Iwas wondering if the Di7 will hit the deck a lot quicker than the 5 or if there will only be a matter of seconds difference. Will be fishing from the bank
of a variable depth stillwater. Some areas shelve slowly but there are a few spots where the bank shelves steeply into depths of 20feet or more. Will the 7 get to the deck that much quicker or should Isave myself the hassle of sending it back and keep the Di5?
Steve.

If you're on the bank, why do you want an ultra fast sink?; just use an intermediate and let it sink gradually, this will also let you explore the depths a little better.

I never use anything faster than a slow inter (1in/s)from the bank, Di7/5 from a drifting boat

Our water is not stocked after the end of Sept, but Ilike to fish all through the winter and often the only way to catch is to get right down in the deeper water so Idont want to be waiting for ages for the line to get down

In 10ft of water the Di7 will hit the deck in around 17 seconds, the Di5 will hit the deck in around 24 seconds.

Double that for 20ft of water.

Unless my calculations are wrong.

Good grief, I need to get a life.

So not a huge difference then, would be about 21or so seconds in the very deepest part of the reservoir(30ft).Thanks Pirate Ithink Ill keep the Di5 then Steve.

I've fished a reservoir over the harshest conditions winter can produce and the Di7 I have far outperformed the Di5.

When the fish are on the bottom in the winter ,when the water temp has dropped right down, I feel a Di 7 will control a booby better-get it onto the bed with less of a tweak

all the best Nick

The Di-5 would last you a lot longer, the Di-7 has a tendency to crack up quickly due to the amount of tungsten in it..the outer coating isn't very durable at all. With that in mind and considering you have the time to wait a few more seconds fishing from the bank as opposed to a drifting boat. My advice would be send it back for the Di-5. It's plenty quick enough from the bank!

To be honest I wouldn't be without both lines; in fact I have the Di3, 5 & 7 in the standard Sixth Sense, the Sweep and the 40+ Expert, all superb lines and all have their day.

You fish the drift Stu on large reservoirs...if you had to choose 1 of the two from the bank you'd go for the five, eh!

Mr R Edmonds in a prior post tells you of the fragility of the di-7 never mind the di-8! and recommends going down to the 5 from the bank for longevity...be honest....as honest as a pirate can be
