Default Re: Trout Popper flies,

In a phrase, extreme fun! Micropoppers (size 10,12) can work well in brooks and rivers at dusk and the larger sized ones (10-6) can work in stillwaters. They also work in saltwater and for seatrout at night. You need stiff leader material because they tend to twist the line as you cast. There are times when the fish just want to kill them, particularly in stillwater.
Enjoy!

I bought some and had a good laugh watching rainbows chase them down at Glencorse a few years back. Have subsequently used them for Mackeral at Lochinver just for the pure fun of it. And Pike go mental for them although I used Bass poppers as they are bigger.
srtipped fastish with lots of jerky movements to get the rubber legs working I used a 6ft leader on a clear floating polyleader.
