Default Blank Warranty Cards

...are mentioned as part of the sale of many rods here and elsewhere.

Surely these aren't worth the paper they are printed on without a receipt as proof of purchase, which you will get asked for when you try to make a claim?

Although I've never been asked for a receipt as part of the warranty claim process, I've always registered the purchase either on line or by post within the stipulated time frame as laid out in the warranty terms. This always asks for the shop/merchant details. It was always my understanding that if the product isn't registered within the 14 or 28 days of purchase, the warranty is void anyway. I agree, those boasts of "blank warranty cards" look a bit suss to me too.

Ive had warranty work done no questions asked by several of the major manufacturers and some of the warrantys were registered, some werent.

I have never been asked for a retail receipt.

And I have also sold on items I bought and did not register the warranty. That way the second owner becomes the official 'first owner' - which is fine (IMO) with an unused item.

Hope this helps.

Hardy Marksman bearing replaced FOC with no receipts , These are the recent repairs without receipts

I've spoken to the people at Sage, and they don't care about warranty cards. They keep a serial number registration database, and if it hasn't been registered, they consider you the original owner. This was in response to a question I asked Sage about ebay rods, and the woman laughed a bit after mentioning that so many of these auctions offer a warranty card. The cards can come from anywhere, and they only want to see that it hasn't been registered by someone else. I shipped a Galvan reel in for service, and they asked for nothing. They completely overhauled the reel: new spindle, bearings, release button, and a new drag system. I only paid for shipping to them, and they covered return shipping. That's customer service!
