I take it you wouldnt recommend then. What was Orvis's response surely if its a fault with the blank they should replace free of charge

i have a western 2 comp flex and love it, excellent with a dedicated 7 weight line, struggles a little with a 7/8 weight line tho, half decent fast(ish) action and like mentioned, decent fittings, altho my cork handle is spot on

I've 10' 7wt and I love it. Cork handle could be better as pirate says but I can live with that.It certainly isnt any worst than the one on guideline fario that I also own ...

Bought one one on line 3 weeks ago. 10ft #4 for Grayling Fishing. Nice rod with a top action. used it 3 times and have found it to be a very good rod. matched it with a Orvis Battenkill Reel #5/6. To bvalance it out.

a while ago my choice was a sharpes gordon2 or a western3, tried both in the 9'6" #7 and both were great rods for the money indeed, i was well impressed. Not finding much to split them in performance, i went with the general consensus of forum posts on the subject, that the sharpes has better cork, and MY personal opinion that it has a better finish, and the gordon has seen fair use, and the handle is perfectly intact. Hope to have helped
Scotty
