The Versi Tip 8wt is part of my sea trout weaponry - and it's a good line/s.

The loop to loop joins are good and the line casts well even with the heavier density tips. My favourite is the clear intermediate which in effect is very close to the Cortland 15ft, Ghost Tip.

It's nice to be able to quickly change over to a floating tip if you want to fish a surface lure without having to completely change the set up.

However, having said all that, they are a compromise and as such you'll not have the same casting performance as a prime full line. I've never found that to be a problem with the casting range needed for sea trout fishing.

I cast one of the earlier models, that had a braided loop system for joining the heads.

It stuck in the rings quite badly. I think they have improved the joins on the later models.

Hard to beat a poly leader IMO.

Hi Thanks for the fast reply
What sort of distance did you get out of the line. I was looking to use one for some boat/still water fishing as well as light salmon/sea trout matched to my sage 7wt rod. Most of the time I use a weighted tip or extra weighted flies to get down on still waters or even a little tungsten putty.
It sound as these lines are good on a double hand rod but a little difficult on a single hander
