Default River Cover

With the Grayling season only a few weeks away I was thinking of giving the river cover below middleham a bash as its a river Ive never fished although I live close by and heard only small snippets on it such as permit location is at the coverbridge hotel. Can anyone shed any light if you are allowed to trot the float in the grayling season or is it purely fly for the grayling, either way any info would be appreciated.
Cheers
George
