Default Wellow Brook - close call

Well done to the EA for their quick response today when milk and diesel enterted the Wellow Brook.

BBC News - Spilt milk 'not affected stream' in Somerset

This is a really beautiful stream and we've faced pollution incidents in the past. Looks as though they've worked fast enough to avoid any long lasting damage.

It's always worth remebering that the EA Emergency Line is printed on the back of the rod licence. Worth having in your phone too

Yup seems from BBC reports that the EA reckon they've stopped any major fish deaths. Local news painted a more serious picture last night though so it will be interesting to see how the brook fares. It is such a beautiful stream.

I heard this in the news last night and was worried but from what I've read it sounds like the EA/Fire Brigade have done a good job. Phew! N

Good news that the EA acted so fast, the local news did indeed paint a dire picture suggesting that a milk spill was worse than sewage so its nice to know that things are under control.

I fished the brook today - about 6 miles downstream of where the spill occurred. Looked in fine fettle so I think all is safe.

Plenty of fish to be seen, but very spooky - the water is very clear (no milk in sight! ). The brook could do with a bit of rain and a good flush through.
