Well i was out again with another forum member this time another bloody lancastrian

, dont they have any decent water oe'r t'other side o'tills

i picked Ray up from where he was camping just the other side of york and after about an hours drive which passed so quickly because we were chatting we arrived at the river cover and had a look over the bridge as you always do, to my surprise there were no fish showing a totally different contrast to last sunday ,saying that it was about 20 degrees cooler with a hurricane blowing downstream ,anyway we got our tickets and set off upstream ,my first port of call was to see how the sandpipers nest was after discovering it last week , it took some finding as it didnt alight from the nest like last week, and there was no wonder, it had either been found and robbed or the eggs trampled on but i couldnt find no evidence of broken shells or anything at which i was quite shocked ,maybe the magpies had found it and taken the eggs away but whatever it was it was the nest was abandoned

ray fishing one of the first pools
we plodded on upstream to find some quieter less windy water and taking a few pics and turning some stones on the way
turning the stones over i managed to find another stonefly empty carcass
along with two totally differing caddis cases next to each other
we stopped at the bench half way along this stretch to have a coffee and a smoke
after reaching the big top pool of this stretch is where we turned to fish back downstream just like last week ,upon reaching the next pool down i found the dippers nest in the same rock face but in a different position from last year ,they had been busy as it wasnt there last week
ray fishing one of the pools on the way back down
and in another pool catching the almost standard theses days tree trout
and not content with just catching one of the larger tree trout he pursued the smaller ones aswell

cant quite remember what he was muttering when he turned my way .......
and that was basically our day with ray taking some small brownies and a couple of nice out of season grayling which i dont have any pics of as we were seperated at the time but ray did send me a pic of one of the grayling via my phone which i have deleted by mistake ray so if you still have the pic send it again mate and i will add it to the report buddy...
me .... i blanked ..

had some good fish on long range release , but i cant complain , the company was great the banter was good as usual ,sorry but if ya cant stand a good ribbing you dont want to come fishing with me

, and by the sound of it ray enjoyed the ribbing as he is thinking of coming back in a couple of weeks (a bit daft them from oer't'ills)
Ray it was a pleasure to meet ya mate and youve improved my collection of tree trout pics which grows each week im out with someone
cheers ray i enjoyed it buddy ..............
