Default wading boots studs and small streams?

I was very conscious of the noise of my studs on the stones this Sat. Do you think it makes a difference?

Go Gently in to those tiny waters - with stealth like tread!

Jon, I agree the studs can make quite a noise - especially when you slip or scrape the bottom of your boots on the stones! I try to minimise this effect where ever possible - by keeping low and taking my time when moving up stream! Easy does it as they say!

Yup, sound advice. I do miss my Korkers which had a sole for every occasion. But they just didn't like the wear I seem to be able to dish out.

Cheers

I don't think it matters too much Jon, although I still attempt to be as quiet as I can. The small streams I tend to fish offer a high amount of turbulent water, so you've got that noise to hide behind. That's how I look at it at least.

Still, doesn't hurt to be over cautious

I'm on my third year with a pair of korkers, rivers and salt, the black grippy soles have died and i've been wearing them with no sole for a few weeks now with no slipping or stumbling. Will buy a new pair when these croak it, although they no longer make the ones i have(cant remember their name)

As for the noise aspect, for me its just a case of careful picking up and putting diwn of feet, wading is done (as others have said) very slowly anyway so for me it's all about foot placement, the fish dont like stones being kicked

Cheers,

Graham
