M, they looked to be on some very tiny black flies(smuts?), the smallest i had was 21 and this was too big!...

Well done G, haven't manged to get out as work is manic - appreciate the update of what was happening down there ... missed it myself but a well put together tale that's familiar enough for some postumous fly fishing!
