well it had to happen at some point to get back on the rivers/streams and what better way than to enjoy a few hours with a good friend and total pi55taker like my mate fred(stillwater angler),this is a river/stream fred raves about and been looking forward to fishing it since he told me about it ,i can see why he goes on about it its a cracking little river and IS full of fish even from the few vantage points and places i fished there were fish moving no matter where we stopped ,there wasnt many rising to be honest but when you peered into the water you could see fish moving ,i took it steady being my first time on a river since my op not wanting to do any damage and end up back in hospital ,and if im honest i dont think i had my head on properly and mainly enjoyed watching fred fish ,finding out pools ,how he fished them ,what he was fishing with etc ,in a way it was a fact finding mission for my further forays on this delightful little river, i will be back there very soon to spend a full day searching out the pools and riffles etc with some spiders , upstream of course

i started with a bug copied from lucian the one tied with chamois leather and i stuck with it to see how effective they were ,to cut it short i had just two beautiful dark brownies one around 4" the other about 6" so the leather bugs do work

we ended up fishing right through to around 9-30pm totally dark ,below is a few pics from yesterday of fred and the river, and hopefully a couple of short videos showing fred catching in the weir pool .....
this was where we started , and a pic of fred after just releasing his first tree trout within the first 10 mins

next we moved upstream ,to some slower water ,but alas it didnt stop fred catching ...................... his second tree trout

,this slower water as we found was holding grayling ,barring one little run under some bushes where i took my first brownie from this little river, so we moved on
fred with his second tree trout ..
we then moved on upto the weir pool where i just sat and watched fred ,where he managed to take a few brownies from and losing what looked by the bend of his rod and power its run was definitely a good fish ...but unlucky fred mate long range release dont count with me

now i dont know if theses short videos will transfer to here or not showing fred catching a couple of gorgeous browns if not i will have to suss out how to post them ...... the vids do work just click on the blanks with the arrows and wait a short while to let them buffer ,thanks....
