Default early season flies

any suggestions,,early season cold water,also fairly acidic streams!!!!
cheers guys,really hope the temp rises soon,very little insect life at the mo!!

I know it's a little late, but now that the weather has warmed up if I was you I'd reach for a small (size 16 perhaps) klinkhammer. Maybe even experiment with a larger one. Can't go wrong with pheasent tail nymphs and hare's ear nymphs in various sizes (mainly small sizes) and weights. If your stream is fairly acidic then I would guess that your insects might be slightly smaller than insects of the same species in alkaline limestone streams. North country spiders are nice too.
