How close. I'll be there from 9-23rd July and have tentatively agreed a day our Moreno Borrierro for the 11th.

I do have a new pattern to try, tied up by the forum's very own Gareth Lewis. It's a high vis CDC midge pattern. I like patterns that are a little easier to see and I reckon this one will do the trick on the trout. I also like CDC and the movement it imparts to a fly.

In terms of rivers... well! It's going to be a busy season! The highlight I think will be 2 days in the Southern Appalacians stalking brook trout.

When does the Vermont season open?

thetrouttickler,

Looks like you have some nice flies from Garth to get after the browns!

I hope you have a great time down South fishing brook trout!

March sounds wonderful to me! Not here! Vermont is still cold with high water at that time. Season isn't open in VT but it would not matter anyway.

Our season here starts April 14th and runs through October 31st with a free fishing day June 9th. April is a slow month generally high cold water. Mid May - third week of June is best for brook trout and again September - Mid October. There is fishing in April, midsummer and late October but not as good as the times I have mentioned.

Rainbow trout fishing holds up longer than brook trout as they handle the warm water better.

Tight lines!

Bobby

Nice Vince- the first section is very similar to a little river you'll be visiting later in the year

Thought I'd post this up. A pic of my local chalkstream after the recent snow.
