have to agree with whats already been said, why play god? and like i said earlier why not get involved with a club to look after, protect and stock theyre river if thats what youre interested in doing?

Fishysir, you are going to make no friends here with that sort of attitude.

I have no problem with stocking, BUT it must be done within the scope of the law, in an environment that's suitable for the fish. if you widen/deepen this burn and dump a load of trout in it, why do you think they'll survive? you yourself say there are no other fish in the burn (i sincerely doubt this) but if true, it's clearly inhospitable to fish. widening/deepening it will not make it more attractive to trout, possibly the opposite. if you want to catch a stockie, go to one of the many Stillwaters that cater for you and I, if you want to destroy the environment, do it alone.

I just don't see why it is such a huge deal.No one knows about or cares for this little burn.There is a lot of wildlife in and around the burn and I'm sure that years ago,there was trout in it.The burn eventually runs into the river foyle but there is a cover on the bottom of it.That is why there are no fish in the burn.It's not that fish could not survive while in the burn they just cannot swim up the burn because of the cover where it runs into the foyle.
There is also no pollution in or near the burn.

It is a huge deal. no one 'cares' about it because it's just a part of the countryside. people will 'care' about it if it's changed dramatically and filled with stocked fish. the fact you use the word 'burn' suggests it's a small acidic stream in Scotland, Ireland (Foyle?) or the lakes. It's not for you to destroy or to turn into a put and take fishery. Don't do it fishysir. what's the point? you;ll probably be breaking the law, and creating a 'fishery' thats catered for amply elsewhere. I hope you're not just a troll trying to rise people, but to be fair, with the sort of attitude youve shown in your first 18 posts i'll not be rising anymore

I saw this program one time about monkeys, people took them out of their natural environment and taught them how to do menial jobs.

Like waitering and gardening and things like that, anyway it all went terribly wrong and you'll never guess what?

The monkeys took over the world, set off nuclear bombs and all sorts, now I'm not saying that trout have access to plutonium as yet, but you just never know. I wouldn't like in years to come to be remembered for unleashing a load of trout that could enslave us all.

Worth thinking about.

Of course you could release terrapins/turtle type thingy's and teach them crime fighting and street dance, saw a program about that once, that turned out ok.

That's exactly what I plan to do.Move some trout from the river foyle up to this burn.There not completely alien trout.The reason there is no trout in the burn is because there is a cover preventing fish swimming from the foyle into this burn.
