You can have the perfect fly, tied with excellent materials but if you do not present it in the right place and in the best possible way, it serves no purpose! Massimo Magliocco

No thankyou, i was going to ask what your views were with regards to all the rumours that the championships were fixed and that the Italian team had alot of 'help' from the organisers.

You weren't involved so i won't burden you with the question.

Sorry to hijack your thread.

Did you get any information with regards to the rumours Max? I heard today that the Italian team was not applauded at the presentations?

Ciao sorry for my late answer but I heard my friend just today.
He told me that it have only been misunderstandings because every fisherman had one foreign judge so how the italian fishermen have had any advantage ?

I don't love the competition about fly fishing but I think that in every sport there's some problems otherwise it will be too normal....

Max

P.S. I'll try the new Terenzio WF line in a few days because he has had some problems

its off the silk line thread but here it is while we are waiting for Max to post his report:
the issues in competitions are not concerned with the controllers /foreign judges/ its just the case that there is opportunity for organisers of the competitions to put some newly stocked fish to some sectors they are pleased to do so at the last day of the events when most of the fish are been hooked in the previous sessions and the catch rates are going down. The only way to avoid this practice is the competition draw of who is going to fish where to be arranged at the last moment just before the beginning of any given session and not 3 days in advance as is the current practice, so even the organisers will not know who will fish where. As for the winner in the mentioned competition, i watched him flyfishing for a while some several years ago on other event and I think he has the knowledge and the skills of a very good fly angler, so Im not surprised for him to win.

Hi Nymphist,
In 2003 i fished in the world club championships (coarse fishing) held in Plovdiv Bulgaria. The Italian team won the event easily, with an outstanding display of fishing.

I have been involved in a few events at this level, and yes things dont always go to plan and some decisions by the organisers can often leave you scratching your head, but mostly i think they are honestly run.
I dont know of one angler, let alone a team of them that would want to win at this level by bending the rules or cheating.
Hope that its nothing more than bad rumours doing the rounds.

Just have to say the whole event in Bulgaria was fantastic and a credit to your country, lots of fond memories

Steve

Hi Steve,

thanks for your kind words! I agree that no honest angler will be pleased to win by bending the rules or cheating, my point was that the rules should be arranged in such a way that even the organisers of such events couldn't be able to do anything wrong, so any rumor of wrong doing would be baseless.

PS

/By the way I was born in Plovdiv and there are some nice brown trout rivers not too far away. The Rowing Channel you fished in 2003 is full with fish now and closed for fishing , we are watching the big chubs there rising throwing some pop corns to them ./

Cheers
Alex
