i found that a tiny drop of superglue on the end of the line after trimming seals it before putting the braided loop on, then you could add a drop of floatant to the loop itself to keep it up in the water

i now whip a loop in the end of my fly line by stripping the coating off the last inch or so, make the loop , whip with tying thread then place tiny drop of superglue on thread at stop point, coat with thin film of aquasure ------ simples .this gives the best presentation and ive tried all the minicons loops and nail knots you can think of .if you whip it with flouro thread it gives a nice indicator for nymphing (old fashioned upstream nymphing )

If you want to 100% seal the tip, you can melt it - just need a bit of heat shrink tubing and a lighter.

I have been using the same method as teeser for a few seasons now and have had no problems. I always had a nagging doubt over nylon loops and they looked so clumsy on the end of a 2 or 3 weight line. Forming a loop in the end of the fly line itself is much neater and is very strong.

Thanks all,

Will give the whip a loop on fly line a try.

Why do I need to strip the coating on the tip?

Cant I just leave it as is?

You can leave the coating on and simply form the loop and whip but personally I prefer to strip off the coating. It makes a neater job and leaves less of a 'hump'. Either way works fine.

Try THIS
You don't have to pull it through but finish as described above.

Thanks!

Looks good, can I use super glue in stead of the aquaseal?
