Default Wild Trout - Hucknall Nottinghamshire

Looked over a very small bridge in very urban Hucknall on the NW edge of Nottingham - guess what? In a fast flowing, very clear stream no more than 4 foot wide; 2 brownies about 10 inches in length holding position in the fast current, their spots and shape very visible. The location very near a well known budget tackle shop (I had only stopped to use a cash point nearby). Does anyone know anything the stream; where does it flow into? I know the river Leen is nearby from which I've caught trout. It's reassuring to know the water quality is good, but what a surprise! Obviously the streams ecosystem couldn't withstand fishing.

Been looking on the larger scale pathfinder OS map, this stream isn't even on the map. It literally is 3 - 4 foot wide!

Could well be an important spawning tributary for the main river system (and the fish you spotted may be adults that have headed up in time for the breeding season).

Just guessing at the location but you might find it from this

Bing Maps - driving directions, routes, and traffic

Where it says "London Street Map" move your mouse over the down arrow and then select "Ordinance Survey Map"

The sream feeds into the river leen on further investigation, which I know to hold a small trout population higher up. The river contains the usual chub/dace/barbel. This is a stream to watch, not fish.
