Default Dry River Daddy pattern ?

Hi Guys

Id like to add a dry Daddy pattern to my River box ................

Whats your favoured pattern/Version ?

Whilst being "big" they are very sparse also, i was wondering about a parachute version to this end as well as helping bouyancy in faster water ?

Re Hooks 10 or 12 ? Possibly 12's as they are mostly all "Legs"

Thoughts and experience welcome .........

ParaDaddy

I posted this one up last year and has caught me a fair few from the stillwater, dont know about the rivers as have never tried it on them but see no reason it should not work. Might drown a bit easy in turbulent water though.

That para daddy is great. Parachute is definitely the way to go I think, I just use a sz 10 parachute with a brown hackle - no legs. Works pretty well - if they're on daddy's then it'll take them, but it could also represent a large hatching sedge, so it's one less wasted space in my box - I actually tied it for large chub not trout, but it works.

I did a piece on my blog recently on Daddies in windy weather. 'Making a friend of your enemy"

My best patten has a black foam head made from half a small bobby eye. Then a rough body of mixed furs, hare, rabbit, squirrel, so dark brown on colour, and ribbed with the brown tying silk. Legs are pheasant tails, just two each side. Tied on a Tiemco 100 spbl size 12s.

I find windy days are the best, and now is the time to fish them. Add a few beetles in 16s 14s and apart from maybe an evening spinner 18s 16s you have the full set for fishing now?

Small stream brown trout.. Best of luck.
