Default Crowdundle Beck

I'm in the Lake District in a few weeks and apart from linking up with mrtrout, I thought I'd give Crowdundle Beck a whirl for a couple of hours on the Eden Passport scheme. Has anybody fished it? Advice welcome.

Regards
Peter

My memory is a bit hazy but I think we had a look at it once 2 or 3 years back, but didn't fish it. There are some little gems on the Go Wild scheme, but there are also some beats which are not really fishable - I don't mean jungle/difficult - I mean virtually unfishable with a fly rod, or not much water to go at. You need to be prepared to do a bit of exploring basically and spend some time in the car having a look at a few. Trout beck and the Lyvennet are in that general area though and well worth fishing, although you might want to pm Steven/mrtrout first as to how much water is in the Lyvennet at present, its low at the best of times! The good thing is, with the tokens being cheap, you can fish 2 or 3 beats in a day and its still good value.

Had a couple of good days on the upper Lyvennet last week Jeff, PAA water at Maulds Meaburn, several nice wildies to about 12ozs, and smashed by one fish, it was a lunker.
The recent rain had just brought it up nicely, with a hint of colour, but it's back down and gin clear as I type, lovely fishing though.
Peter, have a look at the Crossrigg hall stretch on the Go Wild vouchers, the lads in Norris's will keep you right.
Beautiful walk, even if you catch nothing.

Sounds like a good day Steven Crossrigg Hall beat is certainly worth a look as you say, very pretty with the backdrop of the Hall gardens. Hopefully next year when we're up there won't be quite so MUCH water in it!

I fished it a couple of years ago when the main river was high. Lovely little stream but very overgrown. Caught a few fish so it's worth having a crack if the trees and plant life haven't taken over.

Incidentally the Kings Arms (I think thats the name) stretch on the main river is real close by and also on the Go Wild ticket, that's a great beat where I bagged my biggest Grayling to date.
