Talking Highland Fling !

Hi Guys

This is only my second season since i started river fishing and up until Friday id only ever fished one river the Carron (Falkirk) Been loving it and learning loads !

On Friday a friend of mine invited me to join him exploring a feeder burn up in the highlands i jumped at the chance to gain more experince on another water. I was armed with my 9' 3wt Vision Cult .............

All i can say is WOW ! Love it Clearest water ive ever seen ! Not only did i catch but also my first river fish on a dry fly tied by my own hand too And the scenery was breath taking.

First fish on the day fell to my friend on a dry in a very deep dark pool !

He took another four fish from the deep pool all on drys ! Note how dark it is.

My first fish fell to a March Brown spider on the dropper note the colour i caugt it 20 yards down stream from the deep pool !

Note the lovely white stripe on the anal fin, every fish we caught from this little burn had it.

The clearest water ive ever fished ! And its amazing how shallow it looked ........even more surprising just how deep it really was !

Later on after watching my friend taking fish after fish on the dry, i put my wet flys away and played with an Elk caddis, taking my first river fish on the dry within seconds

Had a great afternoon up there sheep , Heather, fish !

My friend had about 15 fish all to drys ! I had 3 fish on march brown spider, 2 on the Elk caddis , 1 on a PTN, lost one on my pimped pennel, lost another fish too and had 3 good tugs !

Great stuff Englander.
These are the type of burns I learned to fish in, often with the upstream worm at ultra short range.
Tends to make you a good stalker of fish as these bu88ers dont give you a second chance.

Great quality fish Englander.
I'd keep quiet about the sheep, it's frowned upon you know...
