Default Reel Inspiration Needed

I have ordered up a glassfibre rod from cabelas (Cabela's: Cabela's 50th Anniversary Custom Glass Rods try out on the small streams.
I would like to find a reel that was in keeping with it i.e. naff 70's, only kidding something simple, classic and robust along the lines of a rimfly or similar. I hade a look on ebay at ryobi's and daiwas but there is not much in the way of of small reels. So is there anything else out there anyone could recommend?

Do you have a budget to stick to or can we suggest anything for you?
Personally i love my hardy flyweight, nice and traditional looking click and pawl reel.

Hi Buddy

I like the standard Orvis battenkill disc I have a few in the smaller sizes and really like the combination of classic style and reliability....

Looks a lovely glass rod TT and at a nice price. Would look a treat with a Salter 2/4

Nice little BBS11 or 111 Jon, classic reel, looks good on anything.
Or a Salter.

Sweet reel and a good price. Has to be a consideration!

Also look at the small lamsons.

Very nice looking rod. What length you getting? I think an Orvis BBS would look good on that rod.

Something under a hundred quid, new or seconhand i'm not fussed. I already have a little golden flyweight which i love, not wanting to go too classic though, something a little different. i like the look of the marryat cmr ( fishingmatters.biz » Marryat CMR Fly Reel), a little retro and quite stylish, but it has pretty bad reviews for falling apart!

EDIT I'm getting the 5'9" #3. They had good reviews on some of the american fibreglass forums and quite a few guys think they may be built on the vision cult fibre blanks as they are the same configuration of legths and line weights, can't wait to try it out.

Like the colour, Green Blank, Is it really 99,dollars? No idea what that would be in ££ seems cheap for such a nice looking rod with some nice finishing touches. Is the postage expensive from the US? I also would go for a BBS reel for the Glass Rod.

Got a couple of those Jon, no probs whatsoever, built to fine tolerances and like a swiss watch.
Caliper drag is superb.
