Default Autumn & Winter - On Our Streams!

While out walking along side my favourite mountain stream, it occurred to me that I very rarely visit the stream during the Autumn and Winter months, maybe the occasional visit if the mood takes me! But, while walking along side the stream the other day, I realised how much I missed the place; and not just the fishing. There is a mystical charm about viewing the stream in it's unclothed and somewhat bleak surroundings, no leaves on the trees; but now carpeted on the ground, there was no Bird Song, although they were present, well, some of them, those that have not flown south for the winter.

The stream seemed to have that invigorating cold rush, as it gurgled and flowed quickly by, the warmth of the Summer months and the colour of the stones beneath the surface had altered, although, there was something that drew me closer to admire the changing water course. I now realise that this little stream has the magic to draw you in, even during the out of season, Winter months!

I miss the fishing and the stream, I shall certainly visit more often this winter, as there is a beauty that shines through, even without the Spring and Summer refinery that only lingers in my memory.

Not as nice as that Mostyn. Lovely pics, and it does help to get through these long winter months, by keeping an eye on the water and bringing back memories of the past season.
I bet you could remember every fish in every pool.
I'll take a walk down the Eden soon and take a few pics, she is high today and needs to drop substantially before I can wet a line.

You know me too well! We must be kindred spirits; as I do remember every ripple - back-Edie and pool, that produced a fish that now lingers in my minds eye! Memories.

Please post some photos to show how beautiful these streams can look, even during the bleakest of winter months.

I'll bet those European Alpine Streams look absolutely gorgeous throughout the winter period. Please post some photos.

As you put them all back M, no doubt they will still be there on March 15th, but a wee bit bigger, and wiser.

Mostyn

Yet another brilliant idea! I'll be out quite a bit these next few weeks hunting and will see a number of small streams to photo. This is a great way to pass the winter.

The passion is in the the writing, the love of the stream shows in your photos.

The sentiment is touching, and I too share your passion for streams.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, I love the setting sun photo.

Default A Walk on the Other Side!

The River Taff has two source points, both of them beginning in the Brecon Beacons Mountain Range. The Taff Fechan" which begins at the east side of "Pen-y-fan" and "The Taff Fawr" which begins on the west side of "Pen-Y-Fan" Each running a different course until they join at the fork in the river, situated just about a mile above the town of Merthyr Tydfil.

The Photos shown at the beginning of this thread, were taken while out walking along the Taff Fechan!

Yesterday (Monday 15th, Nov) I decided to venture towards the other Head Water, known as the Taff Fawr! Although there are certain similarities in both streams, the Taff Fawr is the larger of the two streams; but equally as beautiful, and a real pleasure to walk along during the cold winter months.

Here's a few photos of the Taff Fawr. (Well, It's Something To look At)
