Default hardy glass rods

I popped in to the hardy shop on the weekend and had a little look at the hardy glass rods. I had a feel of the 6' #3 Brook rod and the 7' #3 Stream rod. i was really impressed with them, they both had a lovely soft action but felt very strong at the same time. I didnt actually have a cast with line and reel though.
I was just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on them? good or bad.
Most of the fishing i do is on small rivers/large streams.
Cheers, Daryn

I have tried the 6' 3wt and found it veeeeery slow, i tried against the 6' 2wt classic lightweight and ended up purchasing the lightweight which still has a nice through action but better recovery and much lighter in the hand.

The glass rods are nice if you like a slow relaxed rod (very similar to cane). I have used a 7'6'' in the range which was a nice rod to use, althogh it did take a bit of getting used to. As Ticklematackle said the Hardy classic lightweight range is also a nice rod, but a bit more inkeeping wit the currrent style of river fishing rods i.e Sage txl, Orvis superfine full flex models.

I also happened to pop in to the orvis shop in kelso to have a look at the superfine range. I had a little feel in the shop and they felt quite stiff, again i didnt have a cast with line and reel. Im currently using a greys gs2 7'6" #3 (which has a very soft action compared to all other rods ive tried) as that seems to suit my casting style. i dont really enjoy using stiff rods that much and as i dont really need to cast massive distances id like to try and avoid them.

Go with what you like the feel of and test cast with a suitable line (not one of the more aggressive WF tapers) - the hardy glass range is well regarded by those who like glass. Ditching all my sub 9' carbon has relaxed my fishing and increased my enjoyment. I have a languid casting style and love the feel of a glass rod and the way they protect a tippet and play a fish - superfine fullflexes feel poky to me now. I have come to believe that glass is inherently more suitable for smaller waters and fishing at short to medium range (I still use and enjoy ultrafast cabon rods for different types of fishing)

There is an adjustment. Most people who usually fish fast carbon and try a glass rod don't know how to deal with the deeper flex - they try to push the rod rather than slowing down and letting the rod work its own frequency to deliver the line.

I have a Hardy Featherweight 7ft 3 wt. It a delighful little rod for some of the becks around here. It works great with just a short line out and even quite small fish can give a good account of themselves.

Grommit gave me an excellent deal on mine

Thanks for the info and the links. I will have to have a think about this one. I do plan on finding some more small streams to fish and focus more on dry fly only with super light tippets and think it would come in very handy for those situations.
