Default Seatrout - Night fishing on Sundays??

Regardless of peoples' views on the Sunday laws in Scotland I was wondering what the working practice is with fishing into Sunday.

In reality do you really pack up at 12 o'clock Sat night and do the beat owners tacitly agree to fishing into the next morning.

I fish on the Till under Tweed commission rules and you have to pack up at midnight on Saturday, not sure about sunday night though, can you start fishing at midnight?

Yes; in law and practice.

Yes folks stop at midnight Sat,and yes folks start fishing at midnight sunday.

It's the law in Scotland,and is obeyed.and baliffs will enforce it.no if's or but's

Maybe I will do a late night brown trout fishing trip....same tackle and of course I would release any accidental seatrout by-catch (I do 100% C&R anyway).

as far as i am aware the whole Tweed system is classed as a scottish river - even the till which is not at all in scotland- that is why you dont need a EA rod license to fish it.
i would think the rules would not allow sunday fishing at all- my berwick and norham permits both specifically say no fishing on sundays.- though just as a thought what about tidal water? the tidal parts can be fished for non migratory species without a permit- i wonder if they would be classed outside the rules- similar to estuary or sea fishing?- although i doubt it and it would be rather frowned upon.

Ahh well, never mind...

I often spend a sunday evening awaiting dark on the banks of the Towy while I listen to heavy fish crash around under the trees.

Still, as long as everyone back in then hinterland is happy that it's not a law for the historically empowered minority, at the expense of the here-today majority, then no harm done...

This is what i was thinking, about tidal fishing (approx 5 miles from estuary???) on the Tweed and Whiteadder (up to Canty's Bridge)
